How can I improve my self-esteem?

How can I improve my self-esteem?

1.  Do not compare yourself to anyone else.
Why are you comparing yourself to somebody else? We were all created differently. There is no need for you to compare your life to somebody else’s.  Remember this is your life and you have to make positive choices and decisions.

2.  Compliment yourself daily.
Look at yourself in the mirror and compliment yourself.  You do not need anybody to do this for you.  Look at all of your blemishes and believe that you are still perfect in your own beautiful way.

3.  Accept compliments.
If somebody compliments you should say, “Thank you” and make sure that you mean it!

4.  Associate yourself with positive people.
Doesn’t misery love company? Remember that old saying when there are negative people around you!

5.  List your positive qualities.
Take out a sheet of paper and list all of your positive qualities.  Are you a friendly person? Do you know how to budget money really good? These are positive qualities about you.  List them from top to bottom.

6.  List your positive success stories.
Do you have any positive stories that you can tell about yourself? Are there any funny stories about you?  Remember that

7.  Volunteer.
Pay it forward. Paying it forward increases your self-esteem and increase awareness about societal issues.

8.  Stop doubting yourself.
If you do not believe in yourself, then who will do it for you? Nobody! So stop doubting yourself and believe that you can accomplish the goals that you have set!

Why aren’t people happy with their current job?

Have you ever been so unhappy with your job and you HATE the thought of walking into the doors of your organization?  Well, there are a lot of people who feel this way about their jobs.

When asked why they are unhappy, most do not even know the true reason.  Most just say, “I am just unhappy!”

Here are some common reasons for unhappiness in your career:

  • Boredom
  • Not challenging enough
  • No room to grow
  • Minimum pay
  • Burn out
  • Stress
  • Treated unfairly by supervisors

…….the list can go on and on and on.  One thing that I can say is that if you have a job then you need to be happy because there are a lot of unemployed workers right now who would love for you to quit so that they can walk through that door.

REMEMBER: We make our own destiny.  Do not let your destiny walk by.  Start challenging yourself today and make a difference in your life by becoming the best person that you can be.  When you become the best person that you can be, then no matter what job you have, you will LOVE IT!!!

Time management and priorities

Are you managing your priorities right?

Do you feel overwhelmed by your circumstances?  Do you feel like digging a hole and burying yourself in it?  Feeling overwhelmed is normally the first sign that there is a need to learn how to manage your priorities.  We all have things to do.  We all are busy.  Some of us have a family.  Some of us go to school.  Some of us have two jobs.  Then there those of us who have to do all three things and we just don’t feel like we have enough time.
Do you know that it is impossible to get everything done?  There are too many lists, too many deadlines, too many last-minute things to do.  There are some basic reasons why we have obstacles in setting and managing priorities.
  1.   Poor communication
  2.   Expectations are not clear and no objectives have been written out
  3.   No planning or lack of planning
  4.   Refusal to change
  5.   Not enough resources
  6.   Trying to be perfect
Simple advice:
Make a worksheet and write down your key tasks and projects that you will need to complete during the month.

Pick a day (Sunday) to write out your weekly key tasks and projects that need to be completed during the week.

Make sure that you have enough time to do those key tasks.

Give yourself room for change and for last-minute things to arise.
You need to know that nobody is perfect and that you are not Superman or Superwoman.

Know your deadlines.

Lastly, ASK FOR HELP!!!

…..if you are overwhelmed it is because you need help.

It is now time for you to apply what you have learned today! Go ahead….I am waiting!

What does a Coach do?

What does a Coach do?

A career coach is an individual who focuses on work and career options for people who are unemployed or employed.  Career coachers are not psychologist or therapist.  We mentor individuals and advise them of wise decisions that they should make for the better improvement of career options. We want to personally develop individuals.

Career coaches are also personal coaches.  We use techniques that are specifically for the client’s interest, goals, and objectives.  We all have interest, goals, and objectives that we aspire to attain.  We want our clients to “tap” into those interests, goals, and objectives.  We want to make you the BEST you that there possibly could be!

Career coaches provide leadership.  We want to socially influence clients and support them in accomplishing personal objections.

“Leadership is untimely about creating a way for people to contribute to making something extraordinary happen.” Alan Keith

Who should consult a career coach?

v     Who should consult a career coach?

Have you started to get bored with your current career?  Sometimes we can’t fix things on our own and it is time for someone to step in and guide us!  Have you been laid off or do you want to break into a new career?  Are you a current student and are having a hard time breaking into a certain industry?

Have you been a stay-at-home parent and been out of the working industry for a while? Then you may need a Career Coach!

v     If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then you may want to consider a Career Coach.

Career Coaches do not have all of the answers for you!

Career Coaches are not genies in a bottle.  We can not grant you three wishes, but what we can do is motivate you and guide you through the process of changing careers, we can also motivate you in areas that nobody else has seemed to do.

We want you to discover yourself and know why you are.  Knowing yourself will lead to self satisfaction no matter what level of expertise you are currently in.  No matter what situation you are in, a career coach can be there for you confidentially and help ease some emotional pain that you may be currently going through.

v     Don’t do all the work by yourself!

Why work harder if you do not need to?  It is important that you work smarter.  Get in contact with individuals who know the industry well.  Who perhaps has gone through the same things that you are currently going through!  Do not go at this by yourself.  Sometimes we need some guidance and a career coach is a perfect guider.

v     Does your Career Coach have to be in the same state or demographic region as the client?

No, your Career Coach does not need to presently in your area to provide you with guidance.  Technology has changed the world.  Career coaches can guide through email, phone, Skype, and other communication devices.

v     Remember! Before you make life changing decisions, make sure that you have done your research.

ü      Do your research.
ü      What are his/her credentials?
ü      How long will this process take? Will it be a few weeks? Will it take a few months? Will it take a year or so?
ü      What is their level of expertise?
ü      How much do they charge?
ü      How are they accessible? What are their times of availability? Do you need to make an appointment or can you openly call them?
ü      How familiar are they with using the internet?
ü      Are they able to help with the resume process and interviewing skills?

v     What are the basic questions to ask yourself?

ü      What are your current goals?
ü      Are you willing to put forth the effort in achieving your goals?
ü      Do you believe that you have a true calling? Do you have a gift?
ü      What motivates you?
ü      What is success to you?
ü      Make sure you know your options!

Are you working it on the Career-Walk?

Are you working it on the Career-Walk?

Are you strutting your stuff? Or are you just walking at a slow pace?  I would suggest that you strut your stuff and get on board with the professionals.  Be that “MODEL!” Get out of that old place of contentment and start opening those doors that only you can do!

Professional Super-Models put on their game faces and walk on that cat-walk as if they are the only one on that platform.  I would suggest that you do the same thing!  I would not just wait for things (jobs, relationships, money) to come to, because normally it doesn’t happen that way.  It takes hard work to be a Professional Model!  It takes many casting calls (job interviews).  Some doors will be wide open, some models have the look (applicants) and some don’t but that don’t mean that you’re not beautiful.  It only means that that job was not for you and that the next interview could land you that DREAM JOB!

One way of looking at things is to wake up in the morning and know that you will be geared to make a change!  You know that only you can work that walk and that you will be the better person for that job.  If you pose YOURSELF to be confident in that interview, then the interviewer has no choice but to select YOU!

CONGRATULATIONS! You’re beautiful and remember that this is your chance to STRUTT yourself on the Career-Walk!

What do I want to be when I grow up?

Do you remember your grade teacher asking you this question in school?  I remember this and I remember asking myself this same question as an adult.  It is a serious question that we as human beings have to answer at some point in our lives.  It really does not matter if you are in college, a stay-at-home parent, or executive person making six figures-knowing what (who) you want to be when you grow up is STILL important!

OK. So as a child you pondered this question and wrote your answer down.  Maybe you wanted to be a doctor, lawyer, teacher, or maybe you had no idea what you wanted to be.  Or maybe you had a long list of things that you wanted to be! Kids normally have a vivid imagination and they want to be both a lawyer and doctor.  My son wanted to be a police officer and a trash collector! How he loved to see the men and women work those garbage trucks!

We're adults now and we have to be serious about our future.  Society has taught us that it is important to know what (who) you want to be when you grow up.  Have you yet decided or are you still wondering?  Well, I want to tell you that I am still wondering  and working on this questions but I have shorten my list!

I just want you to know that not knowing is OK! I am willing to walk you through this time! This will be fun! I promise!
